EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Knowledge acquisition is of course the principal objective of the school, however during childhood and adolescence, natural qualities develop and are established. With this in mind, we support our students in their personal development, offering them a wide range of sports, cultural and artistic activities such as:
CHESS
Chess is known for its educational and creative aspects, in addition to being an enjoyable activity. Observation, imagination, analytical skills, memory, insight and logic.
DANCE
Beyond specific expressive skills, dance allows students to develop social and civic skills, such as autonomy and initiative.
STREET ART
This workshop is an introduction to street art. The objective is to use a set of graffiti techniques and discover the materials, then use a spray to create a mural on a wall.
JUDO
Judo classes take place every Thursday and develop important qualities: respect, politeness, courage and self-improvement. Learn more here.
FENCING
Fencing is more than a game, it’s an adventure. Well-adapted for children, this elegant and prestigious sport has a solid tradition of respect, tolerance and fair play.
SAMBA DRUMMING
Experience the energy and passion of samba, its sounds, rhythms and grooves. Workshop in English, for 5P-9S students.
THEATRE
The benefits of theatre classes are countless: having fun, working on self-expression, verbal and physical communication, developing self-confidence and self-esteem.
YOGA
Yoga is an excellent way to release physical and mental tension. It’s also a great opportunity to work on flexibility, strength and agility.
TENNIS
The aim for beginners is to work on coordination through games of skill. For the more experienced, the aim is to perfect all the tennis strokes.
FOOTBALL
Football is the ideal sport for learning self-control, respect for rules, team spirit, and for establishing respect for others and for oneself.
SELF DEFENSE
For pupils from 8P onwards, self-defence classes are offered, through a mixture of judo, karate and ju-jitsu. The aim is to develop spontaneous reflex response.
CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY
Calligraphy is an art and a measure of achievement in East Asian countries. This activity improves concentration and perseverance.
PAPER ART
This is an ancient Asian art form. By working with paper folded several times and then carefully cut, it forms a unique work of art with a symmetrical pattern.
COOKERY
Discovering seasonal fruits and vegetables, and doing blind-tasting. Each week, the students prepare a dish and become real chefs, much to the delight of their families.
MAGIC
The apprentice magicians learn tricks, magic techniques and presentation secrets. This activity develops fine motor skills, imagination, creativity and self-confidence.
SPANISH
Learning Spanish has never been so easy thanks to new, dynamic and fun methods.
LITTLE MUSIC MAKERS
Students explore a range of musical styles and instruments. Includes singing, musical games and videos to learn the basics of rhythm and melody.
STRESS MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATION
The aim of this workshop is to help children discover the full extent of their personal resources and capacities, of which they are not always aware.
JUDO AT MONT-OLIVET
Mont-Olivet School’s objective is to combine healthy academic ambition with the personal development of our students. This also requires the right balance between body and mind. Sport contributes to this, especially judo.
Mont-Olivet School has entered into a long-term partnership with the Swiss Judo and Ju-jitsu Federation, which will be implemented from the beginning of the school year in August 2022 in two ways:
1. In conjunction with the sports teachers, the integration of judo teaching into the sports programmes from Preschool to 7P and then self-defence from 8P to 11S.
2. Creation of a judo club, Mont-Olivet Judo, open to our students and external children.
We are the only private school in Switzerland and in Europe to launch a project of this magnitude. It is ambitious, innovative and affirms our values in common with those of judo: respect, politeness, courage, sincerity, modesty, friendship and perseverance.
HOLIDAY CAMPS
During the Easter, summer and autumn school holidays, we offer various holiday camps for all ages and interests. The aim of these camps is the children’s enjoyment, while taking into account their age, preferences and interests.
Mini camps: these are organised exclusively on the school site with a new theme each week (around the world, cowboys, chocolate, etc.).
Multi-activity camps: we offer sports activities in the morning in our gym or in our tennis hall. The afternoons are dedicated to activities outside the school (swimming pool, barbecue by the lake, cultural visits, Kids Fun Park, bowling, etc.). Our professional drivers provide daily transportation with our school buses.
