The Benefits of Judo for Children

Psychologists recognize the benefits of judo in a child’s personal development; by facing and overcoming challenges with an opponent, children cultivate respect for others, confidence, and self-esteem.

Mont-Olivet Judo Club in Vich

Since September 2023, Mont-Olivet School has created a judo club, Mont-Olivet Judo, affiliated with the Swiss Judo Federation and the Vaud Judo Association. The club is open to both school students and external participants.

Judo classes are taught by a certified judo instructor with forty years of experience.

Joshiro Maruyama joins Mont-Olivet Judo

Mont-Olivet School is immensely proud to announce the arrival of Joshiro Maruyama as judo teacher and coach of the Mont-Olivet Judo Club.

A major figure in world judo, two-time world champion and two-time world silver medallist, Joshiro Maruyama embodies excellence, high standards and elegance of movement. His career at the highest international level, built through constant work and absolute discipline, is an inspiring example for our students.

His arrival strengthens our commitment to offering students an exceptional learning environment, where sport, and particularly judo, plays an essential role in personal development and the learning of fundamental values.

Through his teaching, students will have the privilege of being trained by a coach from the world elite, capable of transmitting far beyond technique: a true culture of respect, effort, self-control and personal growth.

Mont-Olivet’s judo programme continues to rely on a dedicated team united by the same ambition: to provide high-quality guidance in support of every student’s development.
