Practicing judo at the Mont-Olivet School
“Mens sana in corpore sano”, translated as “a healthy mind in a healthy body”, is a quote from the tenth Satire of Juvenal. It is regularly used in a sporting and educational context. Within the Mont-Olivet School, this maxim is particularly reflected through judo, a discipline contributing to the mental and physical well-being of our students, always with respect for the opponent.
An essential balance for well-being
On a daily basis, École Mont-Olivet strives to find the right balance to guarantee healthy academic ambition and personal development based on harmony.
We therefore advocate an adequate balance between body and mind of our students. Thus, sport is part of this dynamic and especially judo.
Common values
Respect, politeness, courage, sincerity, modesty, friendship and surpassing oneself. These keywords are common values shared by judo and the Mont-Olivet School. This martial art teaches a number of moral codes, bringing benefits to the lives and daily lives of our students. The notion of combat, in the literal sense of the term, is rather an exchange of being two children, in a physical, mental and moral approach. The technique itself is not the focus of attention. Respect and mutual trust in one’s “adversary” are two essential principles for good practice, and moreover, for progress.
